II’m sure most people have seen the classic movie “It’s A Wonderful Life.” The main character is about to kill himself because he feels that he is more valuable dead than alive. He is given a miracle to see what the world would be like without him. In his eyes, his life has been commonplace, uneventful, and unimportant. As the story goes he learns about the death, sadness, and hopeless of those closes to him have to live him because he never touched their lives. In the climax of the movie he sees just how fruitful, needed, and wonderful his life is. I’m sure there are many people (me included) whom have believed that the world would be better off without them. There have those whom have felt, at some point in time, their life in not important and unneeded. I’m here to share that all life is beautiful and here for a reason.

Unfortunately, one will never have the opportunity to watch the lives of our loved ones, if we did not exist. However, stop and think just for a moment we go about our day to day lives and time goes by and we see that nothing we do has changed from day to day, but everything is different a year later. People do not have to go out and do spin tingling, awe inspiring things each day to make change or bring white light into a world that seems to be full of darkness. Waking up with the conscious thought, “Today I am going to be the best version of myself as I can be.” I simple random act of kindness to a stranger and spark a never ending chain of kindness to others that one will never realize. Showing one’s own white light to the world is enough to create a shift to a kinder race of humans.

Like it or not we as humans are in this life together; we all rise and fall together. Like it or not the human race is all family. This life can be harsh, dark, and unforgiving. It takes courage to look at all the evil in the eye and say to it, “No, I am not afraid of you, I am stronger than you, I will beat you.” We can’t all be soldiers fighting the front lines or police officers, but we can all be heroes. Experiencing the evil of the world in any form and still deciding to be kind and compassionate to others is a hero in my eyes. No one will ever really know what change we have caused in this vast universe of ours.  Think of the saying “The seeds planted in the soil of today, will become the garden of tomorrow.”

We are all planting important seeds today. All of us, with each choice me make and action we do. It matters to this vast universe of ours. Everything and everyone has a purpose and is important. Plant the seeds of kindness and white light today, and tomorrow when ever and where ever it ends up is sow the benefits of those seeds. One person can and does make a difference.  We may never see the fruits of our labors today, but that is OK. Just keep in mind and heart that, even if you don’t see instant results doesn’t mean there are none. The soul knows, even if the mind doesn’t, that living this life is in fact wonderful.

Keep Silent, and Dare

“To Keep Silent, and Dare. Those are words I have read countless times in my life.  They are a part of The Witches’ Creed written by Doreen Valiente.  This particular day these words struck me hard. It was like I was reading them for the very first time. What did this mean? So, like the studious Witch I am; I Googled it. For the most part people spoke of the Burning Times, when people that where probably not witches where burned at the stake.  Then moving forward to our day and age when one could just be told they are going to Hello for practicing witchcraft. So, it is best to keep silent about one’s magickal studies. That did not really satisfy me. I knew in my heart there hard to more to it than that. I dug a little deeper.

Mathew 14:13 says what  Jesus did after learning the news of the Death of John the Baptist Now when Jesus heard about John, He withdrew from there in a boat to a secluded place by Himself. In several sections Jesus goes off alone to pray.  I am student of Reiki and it is well taught that the Father of Reiki Mikako Usui. It is said that be learned about Reiki from Tantra of the Lightning Flash a religious Buddhist script. Then it is said that he went a sacred temple to mediate and obtain direct knowledge of Reiki. Needless to say, he was successful. A third example is the lovely book The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff explains how Winnie the Pooh is able to find his lost honey pot by simply stopping, listening, and waiting for his answer. By this Pooh finds his beloved honey pot.

This all sounds well and good I’m sure, but what does it all mean? Is Doreen, Jesus, Usui, and Pooh trying to teach us? I found my answer by accident in the shower after a long day of reading, reading, and more reading. In the shower my mind was calm. I did not have any outside distractions. No phone, no husband, nothing. I was in the moment.  That’s when it hit me. Keeping silent is stopping to listen to what this Divine Universe is saying and probably has been saying all day. One was just to busy with kids, e-mails, and traffic to hear it. Keeping silent, is mediating and praying quietly alone to receive answers from Him/Her/Universe.  Prayer and meditation are so vital to our spiritual wellbeing. It is when ourselves connect and really experience the Divine. The Divine is not in a book or a building. It’s in our hearts and mind.  We all just have to learn to keep silent, and dare to have faith that the Divine is there ready to love and teach us.

Blessed Be

It's that time of year again. The air has a crisper feel to it. Cooler. Dryer. The wind blows in a way that can send chills up the spine. In the stores plastic cauldrons and skeletons are in abundance. Halloween has made itself known. What is it about this time of year that strikes fear and fascination within us? Through out history and cultures this time of year is a time to honor the dead. Gifts are given to our dearly departed loved ones. Great lengths are taken to keep malicious spirits at bay. It's the one time of year that the veil between the physical world and the spiritual world are so thin. These worlds are meshed together for this one mysterious night. Humans are creatures of habit and the traditions of our ancestors are so ingrained in us we go through the motions year by year without knowing why. The trick or treating, jack o' lanterns, and costumes all have a deeper purpose than what most people realize. Jack I' Lanterns where used to light the way for deceased family find their way home. Scary costumes were used to confused negative spirits from finding humans to torment. Treats and dumb meals where made to please the spirits. Trick or treating stemmed from this. With all the focus on the dead. Ghosts, ghouls, and thugs that go bump in the night some people dislike or even fear this time of year. It all sounds so negative. A few religious denominations declare it to be unholy and the night for the Devil to run free. Oh how I disagree, I find this night to full of beauty and love. Think about it. How amazing it to have a chance to connect with those whom we loved so much and have moved on the the next part of life? To honor them and show that they are still in our hearts. To celebrate life. That's what Halloween is to me. A celebration of life, love, and legacy of our family. A time to remind ourselves to embrace the life we have now and live the best way we can. What happens to us after we leave our physical bodies had been one of the big questions of mankind since the beginning of our existence. To this day we still do not know. Various religious text from around the globe claim to have all the answers, but in truth no one does. What most people to think of is Heaven or Hell. Paradise or Pain. Black and white. I am not here to preach my views about the Afterlife but To give a more up lifting look of it. The key word in Afterlife is LIFE. To mean that in of itself is giving us a clue of what to expect. That death is just another part of living. There is a whole new level of existence waiting for us all after we leave these physical bodies we are in now. It's sounds like one big never ending adventure to me. Halloween brings us a peak of that new life right to our door step. I challenge everyone to put down the pillow case of free candy for and moment and take a peak through the veil. You just might like what you see. Happy Halloween everyone!

Recently I have been seeing #ParaUnity pop up on my Twitter feed. Normally I don't give hashtags so much as a second glance. I have always thought they are silly and serve no real purpose. However, #ParaUnity stuck with with me. Does it have a meaning and purpose in the paranormal world? My conclusion is yes, yes it does.

Please allow me to explain what I have come up with in my mind eye. There is see partition in the paranormal world. I have seen Twitter fights between groups and teams go back and forth. Not unlike high school. One team ads using another of faking evidence. Another team is disrespectful. This team doesn't spend enough time at a location. I could go on and on. This all foolish really. Then there is the small local group vs the big guys. Y'all know how I'm talking about. The ones with the TV shows and big cameras. I've seen the Big Guys wing accused of ego, doing it all for the money. Thy have sold out from their original mission. The list goes on and on there as well. Enter #ParaUnity.

This hashtag has a mission to bring together the Big Guys and the Local Teams. To stop the finger pointing and hoarding of evidence and techniques. No one can deny that two teams I to the same location they can leave with different evidence. What there was ParaUnity and those teams got tort her and shared their evidence and see if there is a puzzle to be pieces together. One team got part of the story a the second team got the other half? Paranormal investigators big and small all the same goal: to learn about what happens to us when we go into the next world. What is the Spirit World like? Why do spirits stay in this realm? Is there something the living can do to help them cross over? Let me repeat we all what the same thing! In a nutshell bring peace to the living and the dead. We want to be taken seriously in the world of science. How can we, if we are arguing back and forth amongst each other. Yes, there are always going to be charlatans but instead of saying “OMG he iS faking evidence. He is a fraud.” Instead of using those terms, try approaching questionable evidence like a scientist. Analysis, compare, study, and bring forth a scientific conclusion. If we want to be take. Serious by science let's embrace ParaUnity and act like scientists.

Like it or not, The Big Guys are our representatives. They are the faces of the paranormal world. That is what the general public sees an thinks of first. Coming down on them  harshly with accusations of falsifying evidence, ego, and being money hungry does not help legitimize paranormal research. I'm not saying we should all gush and agree with everything they do, scientist disagree all time, but they don't o on Twitter and call each other names. Thy create their own experiments and research and show why they disagree in a professional and respectful manner.

I call for #ParaUnity! The future of paranormal research depends on it. With out unity and sharing knowledge it is doomed to remain pseudoscience for the purpose of Saturday night entertainment. I call for #ParaUnity for the day that paranormal evidence is valid in a courtroom. I call for #ParaUnity for the day that investigators big and small are supported for their hard work and dedication to this challenging and sometimes dangerous field of work.

I’m Taking My Innocence Back

Twenty four years ago I was the cutest little squirt one would ever see. I don’t mean to brag, but it’s true.  My long banana curls would make Shirley Temple jealous and my frilly, lacey dresses really suited me nicely. During the school year my parents traveled with the carnival and I stayed with my grandmother. At the time she still worked, so each morning I would be dropped off down the street with at a friend of the family’s home. She had grandkids of her own that got picked up by the school bus at her home; one granddaughter and two twin grandsons.

The morning started off as usual, but it would be a day that would haunt my well into my adult hood. I was woken up by my grandmother. I ate cereal for breakfast and dressed in my pretty, bright yellow dress with a lacey edging. Grandma dropped my off at the woman’s house and gave a kiss. It was almost time for the school bus to come and kick us up. I don’t remember how old the twin boys where but I’m pretty sure they where several years older than me.  My older cousin was with us that morning as well to catch the bus. The twins decided that they didn’t want to go to school that day. They told me that I could stay home from school today too.  I wanted to go to school, but I agreed to stay behind. One of the boys called their mother (or acted like he did) to tell her that we were all staying home from school.

Then they separated me and my cousin.  One of the boys, Ray took me to a small trailer behind the house and put me up in a folded up bunk. He crawled up there with me and locked us in. I tried calling for help but he muffled my little voice and there was no one around to hear me anyways.  Things happened on and off threw out the day. He said he had to do what he was doing to me because I was bad, for whatever reason. The last time scared us both, because I started to bleed…a lot. I wasn’t in pain but the bleeding wouldn’t stop. He found me a pair of jeans to wear and I’m not sure what the jeans where suppose to do. Anyways, he said “Don’t tell anyone” and I agreed. Just as he finished that sentence his grandmother walked into the house. I was sitting on the couch still bleeding in my jeans. I ratted him out the second she walked in the door. I don’t know what happened to him. I never seen or heard from him or the family again after that. I only know what happened to me. A hospital stay and 4 vaginal stitches later I was able to go home. My parents came in off the road to be with me.

No one really asked what happened. I never really told anyone what happened or how I felt. I bottled it up. I was sad and ashamed. I believed what Ray said to me. I was bad and I deserved to be hurt. So, after that I made sure that I was hurt pretty much so every day for being bad. Any petty thing I didn’t do just right, I got hurt in some way. I became very self injurious. I would bite, scratch, bruise, or push sewing needles into my nail beds. I was very good at hiding things I did to myself. When asked how I got a bruise, I would answer I feel off my bike or something to that effect. I didn’t want anyone to know, especially my mother. She has always been so loving and good to me, I didn’t want her to feel that anything was her fault. It wasn’t. This habit went up for years, finally ending when I was 24 years old.

I was able to stop for a several reasons. One, I was just tired of living like that; two my wonderful boyfriend, now husband was gentle yet firm in my need to stop. It wasn’t right and it wasn’t healthy. I am not a bad person and I don’t deserve to be hurt. Becoming “clean” wasn’t easy and it didn’t happen overnight. When I get stressed or upset my mind still goes back to my need to be self injurious. I feel it is like being a recovering alcoholic the cravings will always be there, but each day is a victory. One day at a time. After I became “clean” I found I was able to think more clearly about the real reasons and logic behind my being self injurious. For the most part I found that I was angry at Ray for taking my innocence away from me. Once I came to that realization I thought to myself, “You know what dude? Screw you. Screw you. You took up years of my life, being inside my head. Screw you. You don’t control me anymore. Screw you. I’m taking my innocence back.” I looked at myself in the mirror after that thought and I felt free. I can’t relive all those years, but I can learn from then and more on. I’m not a victim anymore.  I still have no idea what happen to him afterward or where he is now, but quite frankly I don’t care. I really

Paranormal Spot Light: George Turner

Paranormal author of At the Crossroads of Myth, Theory, and Reality, speaker, radio show host, paranormal investigator, and teacher George Turner was kind enough to sit down and discuss his work, techniques in investigations, and his theories that he has developed in the paranormal realm. Mr. Turner also founded Kentucky Mountain Paranormal Research Society in 2010. His investigation team consists of four people due to the fact that the more people that are investigating a location, the more likely evidence become contaminated. Also, George is very organized in his investigations and likes to make sure his team runs smoothly, without the hindrance of stepping over each other. He will also be a guest speaker at The Mineral Wells ParaCon December 4th-8th. An event that he is very much so looking forward to because this event will mark the farthest he has ventured from home in his work in the Paranormal Field.

George Turner is a man that feels a special connection to Mother Earth. He speaks out for humans to take care of Her as she cares for us. He feels that if mankind where to reconnect to the Earth as our ancestors once where then we would all have a better understanding of the Spirit World. His admiration for the nature around him stayed in his mind on June 16th of this year. Mr. Turner found himself the victim of a near fatal car crash. With dozens of broken bones and lacerations, George still could not help himself to notice the beauty of the night. He observed the lovely stars sparkling above him as he laid in a ditch before he slipped into unconsciousness. Three surgeries later and the green light to learn to walk again, George keep busy with his paranormal work and a positive attitude. I asked him if he felt that he gained of the spiritual realm as many people report happens after they have near death experience.

“I’ve been able to get a feeling from people wither if they are good or bad. If they are bad I get the feeling within the first minute of being around them and that is something that I have tried to develop over the years. Since the wreck it seems like it is magnified. Whenever I get around someone that is sneaky or no good the feeling really overwhelms me; actually to the point that it scares me so I want to get far, far away.”

In 2001 George Turner’s journey into the paranormal realm began. He was working as a rookie corrections officer. Shortly after he was out of the Academy he was assigned to a housing unit. The dormitory unit itself was brand new; however it seemed that something or someone had been living there for awhile:

“The dormitory pods were divided up 25 foot long hallways from end to end. If you walk in on the right hand side there is three pods, those are occupied. If you go to the right side of the great hall there is two pods and we always have to go over to do a safety and security check regularly throughout the shift. Being the rookie officer the sergeant always sent me over to that side. This is about 2:00am-4:00am, I could hear people talking. I could hear footsteps and laughter. I thought it had to be from the occupied side, but when you think about it; where the inmates were on the occupied side you would have to go through three cinder block walls and the 25 foot wide great hall way. So, it is virtually impossible for those inmates that are locked in their individual cells to carry over that far. Truthfully some of those encounters that I had the hair on the back of my neck and on my arms stand up and freak me out so bad. So, I started talking to the other officers about it and they are like: ‘Yeah, every one of us has heard that from time to time, that’s why we always send the rookie over because we don’t like going over there.’ That kind of spear headed everything for me. Questions like why am I hearing all this? I always loved horror movies on TV. I loved books, so I went to the library to research and the librarian looked up other books from other libraries.” As the old saying goes; the rest is history.

George is a spiritual person, whom does not really claim any religious institution. As a Free Mason it is a requirement to have a belief in some form of higher power. When working a case he does his upmost to stay neutral to the events that are reported at a location. He and his team do extensive research on a location before they investigate; often going to an area’s county clerk’s office to dive into the archives to look up old maps and history long forgotten. By doing this George feels that a team can not only tap into the energy of a location by understanding its history, but also gain an understanding of what type of entities are causing such events to happen.  For example, he was working on a case that involved a couple that had a lot of wooded land. They decided that they wanted to push the woods back an acre or so to put in an in ground pool among other things. Right after they did all that work on their land, items like keys would disappear for hours and reappear in unusual places like the bathroom. George reviewed property maps and other records; he found out that the land has never been leveled or altered in anyway. The solution hit him “like a ton of bricks”. They couple had upset the

Element Spirits of the land, the fairies. George advised the couple to plant some fruit trees and a flower garden to please the Elementals on their land. The couple decided to follow his advised and after they completed their gardens things around their home relaxed.

Events like this help further George’s belief that if us as humans were to have a closer relationship with nature; then we can develop into a deeper spiritual state of being.  He also makes note that there is more to the paranormal world than just the wandering souls of deceased humans. On his own radio show he welcomes guest from all areas of paranormal investigation. Of course I am speaking of Cryptic and UFO hunters alongside ghost hunters.  He goes into his interviews the same way he goes into his own investigations, by doing his upmost to leave his own personal bias and ideas at the door and see what is brought to the table. He is deep spiritually but also has a degree and background in criminal justice, George takes a rather intellectual and dare I say forensic approach to his cases.  In addition to doing full research on location before he and his team arrive, he also have over 200 books on the paranormal in all its incarnations, myths, scientific theory, and religion. George feels strongly about arming oneself up intellectually. Not only understand what a team is doing while they collect evidence but also give a better understanding of what spirits a team may encounter on location. He is very much aware of the stigma in the mainstream scientific world that paranormal research has. At this time paranormal research is pseudoscience plan and simple.

“In my opinion the paranormal is a big mixture of myth and lots of theories, but you have got to firmly base it in reality. That is how I came up with the title of my title: At the Crossroads of Myth, Theory, and Reality. In the paranormal world there is a point where all three of them have to come together to be considered legit or acceptable; even if that acceptance is a small amount of people, because I mean face it. The paranormal world is pseudoscience anyone with a half a brain will admit that. It is pseudoscience. It really bothers me when people say they use the scientific method in their paranormal investigations, because there is no way to do that.”

George feels that it is just about impossible to use the scientific method in paranormal investigations due to their unpredictability. A team can go to one location that is famous for being very haunted and capture all kinds of evidence and activity; then return to the same location the next week and receive nothing at all. He shares his and his team’s experience with such a situation when they investigated Waverly Hills Sanatorium:

“We went to Waverly Hills last year, my team and I we didn’t get anything hardly. This year went we went back we were lucky. We caught some shadows. Each and every one of us had some kind of personal paranormal experience. So, yeah you can’t duplicate anything in the paranormal at all.

He then goes into his views of the growing popularity of paranormal ghost hunting show that have re launched the paranormal world back into the main stream and how they have affected the everyday paranormal  investigator:

“The shows are really a double edge sword, when I say that ‘m going to say the pros first. They have gotten the paranormal more into the mainstream. People, in my opinion, more apt to talk about their personal experiences at their home or at their office and they don’t necessarily have that stigma of being kooky or crazy or anything like that. That is the pro side of it. The con side of it is that some people think that after they have watched a couple shows or a season that qualifies then to be a paranormal investigator. It doesn’t, there is a whole lot of things that one must learn if they want to get into the field. Like, how to do you protect yourself; how do you protect your home. Use your equipment properly.”

Although, George does his upmost to conduct his investigations in an intellectual manner and to show respect all the spirits that reside at a location. He also encourages his team to use low tech approach:

“Everyone is running around with those K2 meters, and things like that. They are spending thousands of dollars in the field when there is really no need to buy all this stuff. I personally like the low tech avenue when doing an investigation. Jamie has her camera that she used to take the pictures with. She has a nice $600.00-$700.00 camera set up. We have a camcorder that has night vision capability, and everyone on the team has a digital recorder. That is as high tech as we get on location. I also like to use pendulums when I am out on an investigation. I know that pendulums are only about 60-80% accurate, but I feel the low tech approach, especially when you are dealing with an entity that has been at a location for let’s say a century. The pendulum is really easy to understand as opposed to ‘Come up here and touch the flash light, make it blink three times for yes and four times for no.’ That’s a little bit farfetched for me.”

The idea of using a pendulum very much caught my attention. He explained to me that he only brings out the pendulum when he has a personal and spiritual experience.  He explains in dept on how he incorporates the pendulum as a tool in his investigations:

“The technique that I use, the pendulum is only yes or no, I start out with rocking the pendulum back and forth and straight to me; clockwise for yes and counter clock wise for no. Then I asked three questions: May I ask a question? Can I ask a question? Should I ask a question? If I get a ‘yes’ for a question then I move on to the next. If at any time I get a ‘no’ response I stop, because that is the Spirit World telling me ‘This is a bad time to try to communicate with the pendulum. I ask the three separate questions: May I ask a question? As in do I have permission to speak with you? Can I ask a question? I can talk with you just like we are on Skype, but that doesn’t mean I have your permission to ask you a question. Should I ask a question? Sometimes you shouldn’t ask a certain question and the Spirit World will let you know that.”

As analytical as he is, George understands this field does have a spiritual effect on people. Going into these locations can really put one’s very soul at risk for oppressions, attachments, and in rare cases possession. He is fully aware that he and his team need to do everything they can to protect themselves on location and when they all go home.  George does not align himself with any religious institution he believes in a higher power great than all of us. He then goes on to share how he protects himself spiritually before an investigation.

“Different team members do different things. We don’t do a group prayer or anything like that, but I encourage everyone to say something in their own mind or to yourself: ‘No one can follow me, no one and attack me, I am protected by insert deity name. I personally bring along with me, my grandfather’s watch, I have a certain hat that I like to wear, and my Masonic ring. In my mind those things are items that enable me to protect myself.”

Despite all these protective rituals, we all know that things can still happen and entities still are able to follow one home. I asked if anything had ever followed him home. Mr. Turner explains that he does not feel that he has had anything follow him home or anything like that. He does explain that this past June after he and the team left Waverly Hill he had a great feeling of being drained and had no energy. At first he thought that he was just tired from the investigation, but the feeling did not go away. Ten days after Waverly Hills is when he got into his car accident. He doesn’t feel that the two are related in any way. However, with the great out pour of prayers, Reiki energy, and white light sent his way after his accident he feels that if he was being oppressed, that entity is now gone due to all the energy sent to him by his friends that range from across the religious spectrum.

With his work heavily based on a more studious approach I wondered aloud if there would ever been any room for a medium or psychic to work with his team when they are working a case on location. He states that he would love to have a medium or psychic to join him and his team, however he has yet to meet a person with said abilities in his area. He would like to sit down and speak with the person before they go on location to make sure they person would be a good fit with him and his team. He would embrace that opportunity if it were ever arise.

Mr. Turner is the real deal and a driving force in the paranormal field. His passion and commitment to his work in the field is inspirational figure in his own right. Speaking with him and how he carries himself and his team during investigations is fascinating to me. I do hope that he writes more books for the field. Namely a text book if you will on paranormal investigation in all is incarnates. I feel that his background in criminal justice has helped shape how he goes about his work. Although he didn’t himself make the analogy, I found myself comparing his techniques in going into a case very much so how one would go about going into a crime scene investigation. We did speak some about how cryptic hunters could make sure that they use latex gloves to make sure they do not contaminate any hair or other possible evidence that they find with their own DNA. After we ended our conversation I was left wondering if going into these cases in a more intellectual manner could help gain some respect from the laymen. Although investigating the paranormal can and is a very spiritual experience, those who are not in the field would not and could not understand that; that a more crime scene investigation approach would help develop the field more in the future.

Paranormal Spot Light:

David Graham

Affairs Behind the Veil

The interest in paranormal investigation is on the rise due to the ample amount of Paranormal TV shows out there these days. I’m not going to lie, I eat those shows up. I love them! However, what we don’t really get to see is the repercussions when The Living interferes with the affairs of the Spirit World. I had the privilege of speaking with Mr. David Graham author of Paranormal Travel and creator of Twisted Paranormal Research.  Mr. Graham is a seasoned veteran with 6+ years of investigation under his belt. His specialty is capturing photographic evidence which will be discussed later on.

David is very keen on learning everything he can about the Spirit World he can. He is an avid reader and researcher. He views himself as an investigator and researcher of the unexplained; shying away from the term “ghost hunter”. So, when fellow author and good friend Chuck Banks sent him at picture of scratch marks on his neck he recognized the symbol etched on his neck. It was the mark of Pan, God of the Forest. Pan is known to be a rather fun and mischievous god. Much beloved in the Pagan World (I included). Once David did a bit more research he contacted, Chuck to 1.) Explain his thoughts of what entity gave him the mark and 2.) Give him advice of how to be rid of him. The exact details of what happened to David cannot be disclosed at this time due to privacy and other legal issues. However it can be said David was at Twisted Place and received two very black and swollen eyes, a broken nose, and several lacerations on his face. This attack happened in less than 24 hours after his conversation with Chuck. The attack was deliberate and sudden. With his guard down for a moment, he didn’t see it coming. With a stream of unusual circumstances David believes that he was attacked because he tried to meddle in Pan’s affairs with Banks. He views Banks beginning “marked” by Pan for unknown reasons at this time. In pain physically, David is spiritually stronger than ever. However, let this be a lesson to everyone who feels that dabbling in the paranormal world is all fun and games. It is not. There are real risks involved in investigating, studying, and opening one’s self up to the paranormal world. The physical, mental, and emotional consequences are no laughing matter. With this being said, one may ask why people like David and Banks clean their wounds, get themselves off the floor, and continue on in this field. All I can say is that it is a calling and sometimes, Fate will not take no for an answer. When the Spirit World chooses you, resistance is futile. David explains a bit of his thinking process into what has attached itself to Chuck Banks:

I’m aware of Pan and I know just talking to Chuck he is a proud man that does a great job at what he does. Before Chuck and I ever met we never did a investigation together and when we finally did we were in sync you would have thought me and him worked together forever, we was never in the way of each other but we were would strike at the same time when need be. I know Chuck shares his adventures with his students, my solution to him was he struck the interest of one of his students and maybe they accidentally not knowing conjured. I don’t know if he was in an area that Pan was being prayed to and Chuck being a sensitive it latched on to him. So I told him if he picked it up look for some markings in unusual spots that you don't see: like window seals, curtains etc. maybe it made the mark to invite itself into his home. I sent him several markings of Pan to look for; he couldn't find anything so I would say maybe option one or two was his answer

I asked David how and why he got started in paranormal investigating.

I’ve been actually hunting for 6 or a little more years but I’ve always had a fascination. I guess just one day I was watching some ghost show and I would say that aren’t real or they would have circles going across the screen but you still didn't see what they were saying. I thought what if I could disprove them. So I started slow and actually caught some amazing pictures. I was actually scared and stopped for about a month and then I was like I’ve put all this money into this I might as well keep trying. There is a quote I made up in my book and it says “Why not question everything until you can’t question it no more. Then you have just found your answer.” With my pictures I do just that; it has to be clear or it does not get saved. Then I started going to different places with different stories of what horror was there. I would study my pictures and start using the story for what I saw then I would come up with what ifs. I’m seeing different things. Then I would start to study things in a science format and I knew a little bit about the Bible and start mixing the three. I call them Davidisms, I know sometimes I sound like a cult leader but I’m way far from that. I like to consider myself a researcher/investigator, not a hunter.

I love hearing about different investigator’s techniques in capture evidence. No two researchers are the same and sharing these concepts can only help in expanding research in the paranormal field. I do hope to see the day that the paranormal research field is removed from the pseudo-science stigma.  As stated earlier, David specializes in photography evidence. His pictures are amazing and some of the clearest pieces of paranormal photography I have seen in a while. I asked him how he is able to capture such compelling photos. His method is simple really. If it is not clear, then it is not worth keeping. He explains further:

How I get my shot maybe is because they can see an open part of me and I want to listen and they can see that, usually people who don't experience a ghost encounter is because they don't believe and they are not open to the possibility of what might be, it’s like if I was trying to pick a girl up at the supermarket and I try to talk to her and if she doesn't engage back I’m most likely going to walk away, with ghost I think they can see who is open or who isn't. I don't think even scientifically we will ever know and won’t be able to talk to someone on a regular basis, it’s a game of chance, I always say when I got different style ghost that I have caught a moment in time, because I have everything from skulls to beast to regular looking people. I have had conversations with ghost that acknowledged my questions by using witching rods and two recorders, or simply called intelligent conversations. It’s easier to get a yes\no answer than a full sentence, which I do have but they are rare. I think of a ghost as a battery and they are using their energy to speak. So if you’re trying to ask 20 questions in 2 minutes you’re not going to have a Q and A like me and you can.

When David mentioned “witching rod” I instantly became intrigued. I have never heard that term used before so naturally I asked if he could elaborate a bit and share is technique.

Witching rods was basically to find water, unmarked graves all sorts of stuff. Farmers use to use them all the time.  I use them to get a basic yes/no answer from whom ever I’m communicating with to guide me where they want me. In cemeteries I would ask several yes/no questions and to find out who I was talking to. I would eventually get their date of birth and date of deaths. I will start with 100 years then go down to 50 then 25 to 10 to eventually going by single digits till it gives me a yes answer. Then I ask male or female and what direction to point the sticks for each. Then I go row by row and let them point me in the direction until X marks the spot. I’ve been a 100 percent with these; I’ve even told people there birth dates that I didn't know. They seem to help bring a higher power and have had better audio success after using them.

With six years of experience under his belt David has encountered all kinds of spirits, from the demonic, child spirits, to the just plain grumpy. David was kind enough to share his views and some intense moments in his investigations, including his recent work with Chuck Banks at the infamous Villisca Ax Murder House.

Yes I have made contact with  demonic entities, but  demon I don't think can just take over your body, there is more to it, it has to be invited in and you let it take over, I think they can back door there way or loop hole there way but it's not very likely , when I say Backdoor I mean like an Ouija because your inviting it in. Say a druggy or a alcoholic that is in a bad way unknowingly invites it in, but I don't think it's a common thing as everyone thinks, the grumpy ghost, some people are just genuine assholes in life and nobody likes being around, I just don't think there attitude changes after death.

David on the controversial child spirits:

I don't like them, I get a weird vibe. I think they are a ruse for something else. If you go traditional Biblical rules; children get a free golden ticket. Despite some of the kids I know. I have come across several, they have been the only entity that has given me the creeps, and I think they are something else.

Sharing an intense experience during an investigation:

There was a house that used to be a old civil war hospital , I think that they would send the important people there like the colonel or sergeants like that, when we entered the house the environment was right, it couldn't been wrote in a book any better, dark stormy night , lightning and thunder . It was a creepy old house on the hill with no street lights or anything. The only lights I had were from the lightning in the sky or our flash lights. I most of the time do my investigations on my own but in this night I had my brother helping me, as soon as we entered the house. You could tell that the house was alive; we just kind of stood there and soaked everything in. The floors were the old wooden floors and it sounded like someone was being drug across the floor up stairs. So my brother and I started going from room to room setting up all the equipment. Usually I use just a hand full of things but on this night I wanted to pull everything out. I got done putting the motion lights in the hall way and I had tape recorders in each of the active rooms. So during set up I notice a motion light going off in the hall upstairs. You got to be pretty close to them to set them off. My hands were taping the recorder to the wall in the room and I had a small flash light in my mouth. All of a sudden it felt like I was punched, upper cut style and the flash light cut my mouth open from one side of my gum to the other. Luckily I keep a small camera on me just in case my regular camera stops and then I got one of the creepiest pictures I ever caught.

The Villisca Ax Murder House:

Another experience had been when I was with Chuck investigating the Villisca House; Chelsea and I went to the cellar to investigate. I think Chelsea's camera went dead and I let her use one of mine. It was pitch black down there but I could I could see Chelsea's silhouette because of the moon light shining in the door. I was standing in the corner waiting for Chelsea to get done figuring out my camera. I guess she hit the flash button and it lit the whole cellar up for a few seconds. Chelsea was still looking at her camera when I saw an image of her, besides her looking straight in the side of her face. I jumped up and yelled “Holy fucking shit”, and to my knowledge I've never been startled to scream. I do believe Chelsea's arm got red on her shoulder.

When I tell people about my fascination with the paranormal and that I do investigations myself (on a rather small scale), I get asked why I do it. My answer is always because death is a part of life that we don’t fully understand. It is a huge part of our very existence yet our understanding of it is very limited. I want to learn more and bring some understanding into our life after death. I would love nothing more to come into contact is a lost spirit and help him/her cross over and find piece. I believe that is why most people do it, to find answers to the age old questions. There are a few charlatans out there that are in it for the fame and glamour. However, I firmly believe those people are far and few between. David one of those people that are in this field for all the right reasons.  I asked David what his ultimate goal or reason why he continues to investigate:

I keep doing this to hope one day to be able to discover a theory that someone can't explain.  I would like to be able to make an impact were something could be called the Graham Effect; named after me. I think that is the drive too. I don't think we will ever have an exact answer to the afterlife but I would love to be able to put a stamp on the category so maybe one day when someone can say, “The Graham Effect says…”

David now can add author to his list of occupations.  His new book Paranormal Traveler is now available on Amazon.  At this time the book has a five star rating on Amazon.  In Paranormal Traveler , David shares series of stories, experiences, and paranormal theory that he has formed throughout his years of investigating and researching the paranormal. It is a fascinating read for veteran and amateur investigators alike. Those with just mere passing interest in the paranormal world will also find this book an intense and thought provoking read. When asked as to what inspired him to write this book, David explains:

The book was just a process of my mental state was worn out and I needed a release. I don't mind that if anyone has an opinion and ghost are a hard to swallow subject. However, t it was getting to a point that it seemed I was defending it as anyone would their own religion.  I guess the supernatural is my religion and I have obvious evidence that it exists. So I just want to spread the knowledge and in the middle of my theories I have some great stories in between.

I am honored that Mr. David Graham agreed to speak with me and open up about some of his personal experiences behind the veil, where so many are fearful to take a glance at. Mr. Graham is a great man with passion and integrity. I do hope that he allows me to make another coverage piece on him if and when the day The Graham Effect becomes a thing.
